“Adult Child” is used to describe those of us who grew up in alcoholic or other dysfunctional homes where basic needs to feel safe, seen/heard, and loved may not have been met. Because of this, we bring thoughts, behaviors, and attitudes we developed to survive growing up in those environments into adulthood. The Laundry List identifies 14 traits often found in an Adult Child:
